The first is an Android One Edition with completely stock Android, and the second has Motorola's standard software changes. The former is now receiving an update to Android 8.0 Oreo, as many owners have confirmed.<span id="more-465423"></span></p> <p style="text-align: center"><a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/nexus2cee_85ae36fcb6ab5f30e63ecc212622b34f1b660a7b8a4bca41d8dfae255e8808ad.png" class=" no-style"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-465424" src="http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/nexus2cee_85ae36fcb6ab5f30e63ecc212622b34f1b660a7b8a4bca41d8dfae255e8808ad-329x585.png" alt="" width="329" height="585" /></a></p> <p style="text-align: center"><em>Image credit: <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/22/android-8-0-oreo-rolling-verizon-moto-z2-force/#comment-3674957133">John</a></em></p> <p>The update has a build number of OPW27.1, and includes Android 8.0...

Nokia 2’s metal design fares well in JerryRigEverything’s durability tests

This time around, Zach dug into the Nokia 2, the new low-end Nokia smartphone from HMD Global. Being just $100 in the United States, you would expect the phone to be mostly plastic and easily broken, but that wasn't the case.<span id="more-465418"></span></p> <p>[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrKYRM6iFh0?feature=oembed&w=668&h=376]</p> <p>The Gorilla Glass 3 screen only scratched at Level 6 on the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohs_scale_of_mineral_hardness">Mohs scale of mineral hardness</a>, and both the frame and physical buttons are metal.<div class="clear"></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/22/nokia-2s-metal-design-fares-well-jerryrigeverythings-durability-tests/"...

There's a play/pause button, a timeline, and whatever other controls the site has enabled (full-screen, volume, download, etc.). A brand new video player has appeared in Chrome Dev and Canary, with the same double-tap to fast-forward/rewind that <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/02/06/youtube-officially-enables-double-tap-gesture-to-jump-10-seconds-forward-or-backward/">the YouTube app added earlier this year</a>.<span id="more-465413"></span></p> <p style="text-align: center"><a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/nexus2cee_Screenshot_20171222-172147.png" class=" no-style"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-465415" src="http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/nexus2cee_Screenshot_20171222-172147.png" alt="" width="1920" height="1080" /></a></p> <p style="text-align: center"><em>Video player on Chrome 63</em></p> <p>The new design is obviously much...

Consequently, I have a lot of nerdy stuff that's become integral to my life, and maybe you're interested in what it all is. It's been almost two years since I did a "what we use" post, and a lot has changed. My preferred phones are different, of course, but I've fallen deep down the mechanical keyboard rabbit hole, too.<div class="clear"></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/22/use-2017-edition-stuff-ryan-cant-live-without/" class="read-more">Read More</a></p><p><a href='http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/22/use-2017-edition-stuff-ryan-cant-live-without/'>What We Use, 2017 Edition:...

Switching to the iPhone, part three: Everything I hate about the iPhone X

It vibrates. It asks for my password.</p> <p>This is the single most annoying experience I have on a regular basis with the iPhone X. Face ID is at once pretty good and absolutely infuriating. The iPhone X is, as a result, the most frustrating smartphone I have used in recent memory. The iPhone X is also pretty great, but when it rubs me the wrong way, it <em>really</em> rubs me the wrong way.<div class="clear"></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/22/switching-iphone-part-three-everything-hate-iphone-x/" class="read-more">Read More</a></p><p><a href='http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/22/switching-iphone-part-three-everything-hate-iphone-x/'>Switching to the iPhone, part three: Everything I hate...

Christmas is just a few short days away, so here's my final round of app sales before the holiday. The list today is almost as long as Wednesday's, which itself was massive, but I find it lackluster in comparison. There are some good things to be had, like The Room 3, which you will find in bold. And <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/20/app-sales-dec-20-2017/">be sure to go back to Wednesday's post</a> so that you can get in on the remainder of the sales there.<div class="clear"></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/22/app-sales-dec-22-2017/" class="read-more">Read More</a></p><p><a href='http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/12/22/app-sales-dec-22-2017/'>Kick...
