Google is rolling out a new UI for choosing Assistant voices, which are now named after colors

Now, Google has said, "no, those are colors." Google is rolling out a new UI for the voice selection screen that gives each option its own color. It looks snazzier, too.</p> <p><span id="more-502350"></span></p> <p>The updated screen now has the voices in a horizontally scrollable UI (there should still be <a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/05/09/googles-six-new-assistant-voices-now-live/">eight of them</a>). Each one has a different color, and there's a large waveform animation when you tap test them out.<div class="clear"></div> <a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/07/10/google-rolling-new-ui-choosing-assistant-voices-now-named-colors/" class="read-more">Read More</a></p><p><a...

The Gang Sells Out: ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ is getting a mobile game

<p><a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/qKEyJ0ZQ.png" class=" no-style"><img class="alignnone size-hero-size wp-image-502321" src="https://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/qKEyJ0ZQ-728x410.png" alt="" width="668" height="376" /></a></p> <p>That's right, a TV show that has in the past <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=11&v=0UBT0sHba1U">ridiculed the addictiveness of online video games</a> is actually jumping on the mobile gaming bandwagon with little to no sense of irony. Not only is <em>It’s Always Sunny: The Gang Goes Mobile</em> an actual free-to-play Android game set to release later this year, but it will include questionable mechanics such as collecting fan-favorite characters. As if the last two seasons of the TV show weren't bad enough, now we can expect this blatant cash grab to hit the Play...

Google Maps now lets you quickly, and mindlessly, rate places from a notification

<p><a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/google-maps-rating-notification-1.png" class=" no-style"><img class="alignnone size-hero-size wp-image-502174" src="https://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/google-maps-rating-notification-1-728x386.png" alt="" width="668" height="354" /></a></p> <p>There's a passionate love story between the Google Maps team and Android's notifications. Every few months, sometimes even weeks, a new type starts surfacing up, and it's gotten to a point where the notifications settings in the Maps app don't fit on one screen and require sub-categories. The latest isn't a new notification per se, but it's a change to an existing one: you can now directly rate a place from the notification drop-down.<div class="clear"></div> <a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/07/10/google-maps-now-lets-quickly-mindlessly-rate-places-notification/" class="read-more">Read More</a></p><p><a href='https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/07/10/google-maps-now-lets-quickly-mindlessly-rate-places-notification/'>Google Maps now lets you quickly, and mindlessly, rate places...

Re-ordering tracks in your Spotify playlists is now possible on Android

<p><a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Generic-Spotify-Hero.png" class=" no-style"><img class="alignnone size-hero-size wp-image-500554" src="https://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Generic-Spotify-Hero-728x476.png" alt="" width="668" height="437" /></a></p> <p>I have a long list of small complaints about Spotify and, until today, one of them was the lack of an option to re-order tracks in the playlists that I've created. I could re-arrange my playing queue after choosing a playlist, or go to the desktop or web player to edit that playlist, but on my Android phone, the "custom" sorting order wasn't modifiable. Now, it appears the function is rolling out.<div class="clear"></div> <a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/07/10/re-ordering-tracks-spotify-playlists-now-possible-android/" class="read-more">Read More</a></p><p><a href='https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/07/10/re-ordering-tracks-spotify-playlists-now-possible-android/'>Re-ordering tracks in your Spotify playlists is now possible on Android</a> was...

YouTube’s incognito mode sounds better than it works

YouTube has pushed out an incognito mode feature to Android users, essentially pausing your search/viewing history when using the app. The feature seems to sign you out of your YouTube account, however, so you can’t use it for age-restricted videos. YouTube allows you to clear or pause your viewing and search history, but a more elegant […]
